Quiet Cars Notice of Public Meeting and Request for Comments

NHTSA is having a public meeting to bring together government
policymakers, stakeholders from the blind community, industry
representatives and public interest groups to discuss the safety of
blind pedestrians encountering quiet cars including hybrids,
all-electric vehicles and quiet internal combustion engine vehicles.
This public meeting and the request for information, is an opportunity
for an exchange among interested parties, as well as the public, on the
technical and safety policy issues related to increasingly quieter cars
and blind pedestrians. The date, time, location, and framework for this
public meeting are announced in this notice.
DATES: Public Meeting: The public meeting will be held on June 23, 2008,
from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Grand Hyatt Washington, Washington, DC.
COMMENTS: Written comments may be submitted to the agency and must be received no later than August 1, 2008.
