08/17/2011 – 08/17/2011

Web-based, USA

2:00-3:30 EDT

As part of its Promising Practices and Solutions in Accessible Transportation series, Easter Seals Project ACTION is pleased to partner with the Transportation Research Board (TRB) for a webinar on a newly released report by the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) on navigating roundabouts and channelized right turn lanes for pedestrians who have visual impairments. The webinar features panelists who will evaluate accessibility at a complex intersection and discuss the impacts of site geometry and operational characteristics on site accessibility. The panelists will also discuss empirical study results for several infrastructure-based treatments geared at improving accessibility of roundabouts and channelized right turn lanes. The webinar will conclude with a perspective on the implications of the report from a certified orientation and mobility specialist as well as a registered professional engineer.
