National Bicycle and Pedestrian Count
September 13-20, 2005

The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Pedestrian and Bicycle Council is sponsoring a National Bicycle and Pedestrian Count that will generate counts of non-motorized transportation modes so that research can be done on factors influencing policy, funding, planning, and design.

Potential uses of the data include:

* Air quality and trip reduction calculations
* Facility planning and design
* Urban and city planning, land use, design
* Collision analysis
* Baseline usage information to evaluate trends, impacts of new facilities
* Estimating usage for funding priorities

Your community, school, or bicycling or walking group can participate! Full details on the counts and surveys including a full description of the program, training instructions, and forms are available at www.altaplanning.com .
