In April, 2000, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) conducted two one-day workshops on research needed over the next five years to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety.


This report presents a summary of the workshop activities, recommendations from the participants, and a series of white papers on a variety of pedestrian and bicycle issues requiring further research.
