How do I choose a pedometer?

There is a wide selection of pedometers, varying in degrees of accuracy, features, and price. In general, more expensive pedometers have more features and tend to be more accurate. However, a basic pedometer can cost $10.

The terms "step counter" and "pedometer" are often used interchangeably, but some pedometers provide additional information, such as distance walked and calories burned.

Some of the most well-known manufacturers of pedometers are Omron, DigiWalker, Sportline, Freestyle, Walk4Life, New-Lifestlyes, LifeCorder, Oregon Scientific, and Skeletone.

Pedometers are available at sporting good stores, specialized walking stores, retail centers, and online.
